Port Taranaki in the Community


  • Pays annual dividends to the sole shareholder, Taranaki Regional Council.  The dividend is used to offset Taranaki Regional Council rates for the benefit of the people of the region.


  • Provides discounted lease rentals to community organisations and peppercorn lease rentals to New Plymouth District Council and Department of Conservation.


  • Provides and maintains free access to public areas including the Lee Breakwater boat ramp and jetties.


  • Consults regularly with the New Plymouth District Council and Ngati Te Whiti Hapu Society Incorporated, through the Ngamotu – Port Taranaki Liaison Group, on the development and management of the recreational areas in the vicinity of Ngamotu Beach.


  • Provides the venue for community activities including Taranaki Triathlon Club, Splash and Dash events, Flanagan Cup, Methanex Family Fun Ride, Port to Park Fun Run/Walk, Weetbix Kids TRYathlon, beach volleyball series, the seaside market and various other events.


  • Provides sponsorship funding to a range of community organisations with a marine focus including Coastguard Taranaki, Surf Lifesaving Clubs and Nga Motu Marine Reserve Society.
