Permit Control facility

All work, other than defined routine work, undertaken for Port Taranaki in designated areas must be done under permit.

Port Taranaki now uses the Common Permit to work system, this system is used in the Taranaki petrochemical industry

 

Permit applications are handled by the Permit System Co-ordinator located in the Permit Control Facility.

  • The permit control facility is based on the lower floor of the HSE building on Hutchen place.
  • Office hours are 0700 - 1200 and 1300 - 1600 Monday to Friday - Phone 06 759 9733
  • After hours and on weekends permits are authorised by the NKTT Duty Supervisors - Phone 06 751 0200 extension 2
  • People who require a permit at Port Taranaki need to hold Unit Standard 17588 - Apply for and recieve a permit to work
  • All persons carrying out work by permit must complete a Port Taranaki induction
  • The provision of necessary personal protective safety equipment is the responsibility of the permit holder.

All persons undertaking work by permit must wear appropriate safety clothing and equipment of a type that complies with current New Zealand standards, recognised codes and guidelines, and be suitable for the task at hand.
