Port Taranaki shore leave at Level 2
Port Taranaki has been fairly busy in recent days, with a mix of methanol, log, bulk feed, and petrochemical vessels visiting the port. As a result, you may have noticed some ship crew members in town as they take the opportunity to get off the water, stock up on provisions, and discover New Plymouth.
We want to assure you that throughout the COVID-19 alert level response, Port Taranaki has taken all health and hygiene precautions necessary to protect staff, customers and the public, and we continue to do so at Level 2.
We are abiding by Maritime New Zealand guidelines regarding shore leave at Level 2, with the following measures being taken:
- Crew must have been onboard a vessel from any foreign destination for more than 14 days – the length of the quarantine period.
- If there is concern no shore leave is granted.
There have been no suspected COVID-19 cases from foreign crew arriving at Port Taranaki.
