Experienced commercial and financial executive Allan Melhuish has been appointed to a new combined role as Port Taranaki’s chief financial officer and head of commercial.
Mr Melhuish, who has been head of commercial at Port Taranaki since July 2015, takes over the CFO role from Chris Ferguson, who has accepted a financial role at Todd Energy.
Port Taranaki chief executive Guy Roper said Mr Melhuish’s extensive knowledge of the port’s structure, both commercially and financially, made him the perfect fit for the dual role.
“Allan has had a broad commercial role at the port, and has been responsible for marketing, pricing and the sustainable growth of the business,” Mr Roper said.
“He is hugely capable and I and the executive leadership team believe he has the knowledge and expertise to successfully bring the commercial and financial roles together to help further grow our business.”
Before joining Port Taranaki, Mr Melhuish held senior roles in the energy industry with experience in leading teams, acquisitions, contract negotiation and management, project delivery and new business.
He also has experience in investment banking, strategy consulting and the government sector.
Mr Melhuish takes up the role with immediate effect.
