Port Taranaki is seeking an experienced Mechanical Leading Hand to join our team. Reporting to the Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor you will assist in leading, organising and controlling the Mechanical Maintenance team and in the organisation and supervision of mechanical maintenance and project works. In addition, you will work on-tools with the team.
You will assist the team with cost control, procurement, and record management so ideally you will feel comfortable using technology and systems to support your activities. Familiarity with Health & Safety at Work Act and associated industry regulations is desirable. You will be required to participate in a callout roster.
A successful candidate will have;
- Relevant apprenticeship and Trade Certificate
- 10 years plus of trade experience with minimum 2 years supervisory or leadership experience
- Demonstrated experience in machining, welding, hydraulics and pneumatics
- Experience working at heights and in confined spaces
- Excellent communication skills
- A positive and pro-active approach toward teamwork
Desirable but not essential would be:
- A Class 2 licence
- Forklift qualifications, including F endorsement
- Marine propulsion and auxiliary equipment experience.
A NZ work permit and full NZ Driver’s license is essential.
